Timber & metal boundary solutions for security and privacy.

About Our Fencing & Gates Service

Complete your property's transformation with our professional fencing and gate installations. We supply and install a comprehensive range of boundary solutions including closeboard (featherboard) fencing, panel fencing, post and rail, and contemporary slatted screens. Our timber fencing uses tanalised softwood or premium hardwood with concrete posts and gravel boards for maximum longevity. For driveways, we install automated sliding and swing gates in timber, wrought iron, and aluminium, complete with electric openers, intercoms, and keypad entry systems.

In Detail

White & Sons installs fencing and gates as a natural complement to our driveway and patio installations. We offer the full spectrum of boundary solutions: closeboard (featherboard) fencing for maximum privacy and wind resistance, panel fencing for cost-effective boundaries, post and rail for rural properties, and contemporary horizontal slatted screens for a modern aesthetic. All timber fencing is constructed using tanalised (pressure-treated) softwood to resist rot and insect damage, with concrete posts and concrete gravel boards as standard — not the timber posts that rot at ground level within a few years. For driveway entrances, our gate installations range from simple timber five-bar gates to fully automated sliding gates with electric motors, video intercoms, and smartphone app control. We work with leading automation manufacturers including CAME, BFT, and Nice to provide reliable, weatherproof gate systems designed for the British climate.

Fencing & Gates FAQ

Tanalised softwood fencing with concrete posts and gravel boards lasts for many years with minimal maintenance. The concrete posts and gravel boards will last indefinitely — only the timber panels need replacing over time, which is straightforward and cost-effective.

Generally not, provided the fence is no taller than 2 metres (or 1 metre adjacent to a highway). Listed properties and conservation areas have additional restrictions. We advise on any planning requirements during our site survey.

Panel fencing uses pre-made panels fixed between posts — it is quicker and cheaper to install. Closeboard (featherboard) fencing uses individual boards nailed to horizontal rails, creating a stronger, more wind-resistant fence that can follow sloping ground without stepping.

Yes, we can retrofit automated gates to most existing driveways. We assess the entrance width, available space for gate opening (swing or slide), and electrical supply before recommending the most suitable system.
